Projects of young scientists of the International Research and Production Holding "Phytochemistry" have won grants from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan
In December 2021, young scientists of the International Research and Production Holding Phytochemistry submitted works on fundamental and applied research to the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for grant funding for scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects.
In April 2022, based on the results of the state scientific and technical expertise and in accordance with the decision of the National Scientific Council in the priority area "Science of Life and Health" (Minutes No. 3 dated April 14, 2022), two projects of young phytochemists were approved for funding: AP 13067888 "Development of medicinal substances of new generation based on plant metabolites” (Supervisor: PhD Karima Seitbekova) and АР13067996 “Development of a plant immunomodulator for the prevention of viral infections” (Supervisor: PhD Ainur Zhumakaeva).
Prospective young scientists, PhD-doctoral students Gabiden Baysarov, Zhanar Shaimerdenova, Asel Amanzhan will take part in the implementation of the project AP 13067888 "Development of new generation medicinal substances based on plant metabolites" under the guidance of PhD Karima Seitbekova.
The idea of the project is to develop medicinal substances based on pharmacologically active plant metabolites - the sesquiterpene lactone leukomizin and the flavonoid pinostrobin. As is known, low water solubility creates difficulties for the use of new pharmaceutical substances based on plant compounds. One of the main issues addressed in the project is to increase the bioavailability of plant metabolites that are poorly soluble in water. To solve this problem, the project implementers will for the first time carry out directed solid-phase synthesis based on sesquiterpene lactones and flavonoids with appropriate reagents to obtain water-soluble solid dispersions. Based on the synthesized water-soluble substances of plant origin, new effective drugs will be developed.
5 young scientists will take part in the implementation of the project АР13067996 "Development of a plant immunomodulator for the prevention of viral infections" under the guidance of PhD doctor Ainur Zhumakaeva, among them the PhD doctor, the PhD doctoral student, 2 masters, a master's student. The project is dedicated to the development of a new effective immunomodulatory agent based on sesquiterpene lactone of plant origin. It is planned to study the specific pharmacological activity of the developed substance under in vitro and in vivo conditions in relation to the cellular and humoral components of the immune response in experimental immunosuppression. The results of studies of a new immunomodulator based on natural sesquiterpene lactone will expand the range of domestic original herbal preparations for the treatment of diseases associated with a weakened immune system.
