MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION
On October 9, 2024, a visiting session of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NAS RK) was held in Karaganda under the chairmanship of the President of NAS RK, A.K. Kurishbayev. The session focused on pressing issues related to the integration of domestic medicine and science.
The meeting took the form of an open business discussion, where new ideas, proposals, and approaches to solving existing problems in scientific medicine were presented. The visiting session was attended by the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akmaral Alnazarova; the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek; the Akim of the Karaganda Region, Yermaganbet Bulekpayev; and members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aynur Argynbekova and Zhanna Asanova. The event also welcomed academicians of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of scientific organizations in the medical field, rectors of medical educational institutions, leaders of medical and public organizations, representatives of local executive authorities, and other stakeholders.
As noted by the regional head, Yermaganbet Bulekpayev, this meeting holds great significance for the further improvement of research activities in healthcare, the introduction of advanced technologies, and the strengthening of interaction between science and practical medicine.
He announced that during the 25th International Scientific Conference, held in September this year in Italy, a decision was made to transfer the International Center for the Chemistry of Medicinal Substances from Europe to Karaganda. This decision acknowledges the achievements of Karaganda’s phytochemists in developing original pharmaceutical drugs, and the establishment of the center in Karaganda will facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge technologies and attract investments into the domestic pharmaceutical industry.

Participants of the session visited the laboratories and production facilities of the “Research and Production Center “Phytochemistry”, where they familiarized themselves with the development and manufacturing of original phytopharmaceuticals. A meeting with the center’s staff was also held.
The President of NAS RK awarded the General Director of JSC “Research and Production Center “Phytochemistry”, S.M. Adekenov, with the jubilee medal of Academician K.I. Satpayev.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “Research and Production Center “Phytochemistry”.
